APOBR polyclonal antibody
Host: Rabbit Reactivity: Human,Rat
BackGround:ApoB48R (apolipoprotein B48 receptor), also known asapolipoprotein B-100 receptor, is a 1,088 amino acid proteinthat functions as a macrophage receptor by binding toapoB of dietary triglyceride-rich lipoproteins or to a similarapoB-like domain in hypertriglyceridemic very lowdensity lipoprotein (HTG-VLDL). ApoB48R may contributenecessary lipids, lipid-soluble vitamins and othernutrients to reticuloendothelial cells. Significantly elevatedplasma triglyceride levels may cause apoB48R tobe a factor in foam cell formation, endothelial dysfunctionand atherothrombogenesis. ApoB48R also mediatesthe swift, high-affinity uptake of chylomicrons,HTG-VLDL and trypsinized VLDL lacking apoE in invitro macrophages. Conserved in chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse and rat, apoB48R is ubiquitously expressed in alltissues, except skeletal muscle, with high expression inlung and placenta, and low expression in brain and heart.ApoB48R is encoded by a gene that maps to humanchromosome 16p11.2 and exists as three alternativelyspliced isoforms.
